Just came in from a trip to the nursery --- more plants for the deck and the garden :)
Discovered this lovely moth on our front door.
Does anyone know its name? By the way- the front door is in the Upper Delaware River Valley of New York - if that helps with identification

I have never seen this beauty but did some Internet research and it appears to be a Rosy Maple Moth (Dryocampa rubicunda).
Thank you and thank you again. Our books don't show it (not very exhaustive) It is a first view for us and a really lovely little moth.
Beautiful. A treat to start the day.
What a beauty. I've never seen anything like it.
Lovely and so soft. Hard to believe it can fly. Doesn't appear to get to the Western US.
just beautiful and so glad you have gotten an ID for it.
I had one on my screen door a couple of years ago. Pretty, isn't it? I did resist the urge to touch it, though.
So beautiful!
Such lovely muted colors.
Hi Endment,
I have been a moth on the screen of hopelessness for the past months. I'm finally well again. You cannot imagine the pleasure of re-visiting your spot.
The moth itself is magnificent, it's almost as if Dr Seuess cooperated with the Maker of All Things...
What I like most is the way the moth brought out such curiosity and reverence.
Definitely a rosy maple moth, Endment, and it is a beauty.
I've never seen such a moth and I am astounded! How, pray tell, did you manage to get the photograph? What is the white background?
It looks like a flower.
It's so good to discover you again. I lost touch during the quiet time on your blog and hadn't realised you were posting again! What a treat. And you are offering the same beauty and grace as ever. What a lovely visitor!
Maravilhosas imagens!
