Autumn Abundance

"One is constantly reminded of the infinite lavishness and fertility of Nature -- inexhaustible abundance amid what seems enormous waste. And yet when we look into any of her operations that lie within reach of our minds, we learn that no particle of her material is wasted or worn out. It is eternally flowing from use to use, beauty to yet higher beauty; and we soon cease to lament waste and death, and rather rejoice and exult in the imperishable, unspendable wealth of the universe, and faithfully watch and wait the reappearance of everything that melts and fades and dies about us, feeling sure that its next appearance will be better and more beautiful than the last. " ---- John Muir

I wrote a poem about the beauty of death in the fall when I was in Junior High School...I must find it again. It was probably sappy, but fall does lend itself to youth. Thanks for stopping by. (Blogger simply must start a diet!!!)

I simply must find some of this man's work at my library. His observations about nature are spot on and wonderfully expressed. Thank you for sharing them with us.

I spent the day (vacation day today!) visiting the Bridges of Madison County and watching as farmers rush to bring their harvests.

Pumpkins are a saving grace. A bounty to be enjoyed in; pies, breads, muffins, soups. Filling and warming through the winter.
Lovely. and pumpkins make one's taste buds smile.

On you comment about voting being enough...I've been wondring about that myself. It's nice to see some of our states taking matters into their own hands.

Well, at least SOMEONE has pumpkins. It was such a bad year for pumpkins because of the heat, our local pumpkin patch had to SHIP some in so we would have something to pick!

Endment, the composition of this photo is outstanding. And the colors are so beautiful! Autumn is such an inspiring season. John Muir knew what he was talking about. Thanks for your email, as well. I hope you received my reply.
