Scrambling
"Before the beginning of years
There came to the making of man
Time, with a gift of tears;
Grief, with a glass that ran;
Pleasure, with pain for leaven;
Summer, with flowers that fell;
Remembrance, fallen from heaven,
And madness risen from hell;
Strength without hands to smite;
Love that endures for a breath;
Night, the shadow of light,
And Life, the shadow of death."

The photo reminds me of all the plump gray squirrels we have running around in our yard and stealing from the bird feeders. They are fun to watch and very clever.
The poem is beautiful, powerful.
actually, there is no such state as: 'caught up' Life just keeps pitching, whether we catch or not.
This is a really beautiful poem - Thanks for sharing it.
I am part of Finding Water, too. Good luck with Week Four!
The poem speaks to me of some kind of balance -- perhaps absurd balance -- at the core of this brief life.
Your image of scrambling is expressive. It's a great verb. I hope you are enjoying your scrambling in some small way.
Fantastic shots! Way to be - way to see! Peace.
ON LEAVING COMMENTS
I think I may have figured out why bloggers are having problems leaving comments. The reason very likely is, the fact that the login feature on the comments page: doesn't work. Why do I think that? Because I have already butted my head against that WALL.
So, I thought, Rats!!!!! Not again, or is it still?? Because I had been having a lot trouble with Blogger. As I have mentioned ad nauseaum on my new site.
Therefore, I says to myself, I query, what would happen if I go to my Dashboard create- a- post page and sign in there? Ah, ha, so I did. I was able to login in just fine. Hum.
Then I went to one of my favorite Blogs I have bookmarked, guess what? I was quite able to leave a comment. I have done that now whenever I want to comment, say hello or whatever. So far It has worked. No more, 'that password doesn't match etc.'.
The login thing on the comment page is just another glitch by blogger. So, try logging in at your main site before going to comment. I hope it works for you.
This little squirrel has blueish tones. The ones on this side of the Atlantic are rather on the brown side. A beautiful photo.
the ebb and flow of poetry... your talent for treading words and your keen eye for photography make your blog a dreamland!
What a lovely photo and poem combination - as always! Enjoy the natural wonders around you - and thanks for letting us in on them occasionally. :)

What an engaging and agile little person your furry friend is, Endment. I always marvel at the contortions they can undertake to get into one's birdfeeder.
Scrambling and scrambling and never catching up here (sigh). The poem is lovely too. . .
Lovely poem and engaging picture of the squirrel, they are incredible acrobats aren't they?
A great combination, the picture/poem along with scrambling to catch up! I somehow can relate very much.
Hope everything is going well. I know what you mean about "scrambling to catch up." I've been doing that for the past couple of months, but things are beginning to slow down.
Love that poem from Swinburne, and will have to check out more of his work. And wonderful photo as always. It's nice to read your blog again.
hope you're caught up soon ... miss you!
Lovely photo and poem. Hope you are OK and will post before too long again.

I'm a squirrel fan .. .Though they are a pest in my native England ...Here in NZ we have possums only .. just not the same ...
It's been so long since you've posted, I hope everything is alright. Miss you!
